*After my usual negligence to this dotcom, I’m back to blogging. Bear with me; after typing for 2,345,232 hours a day for other people, sometimes I forget to write for myself. SMH…lol *
Last month I attended an event hosted by homie Kimberly Walker (@KimmyGotSoul) and Linda Ripoll (@BeautyCulture1) for their Brown Girl Beauty Collective.
The two lovely beauty experts along with dermatologist Chynna Steele-Griffin schooled myself and a number of other beauty bloggers on skincare.
Dr. Steele-Griffin quickly took command of the program and offered advice on how to keep your skin in tip-top shape. A few of her standout tips:
- Take off your sports bra immediately after a workout to prevent the dreaded body acne
- Try the ‘C. Booth Derma 24’ facial scrub (available at your favorite RiteAid, it’s a great exfoliant)
- Mix ‘Indian Healing Clay’ with apple cider vinegar to make an effective, at-home clay mask
- Keep your pillowcase clean!
In addition to learning about skincare from Dr. Steele-Griffin (she quite possibly has the most impeccable skin and hair in Atlanta btw) myself and the other bloggers were introduced to RX for Brown Skin, a black-owned skincare line. Developed by a Harvard grad, the Brown Girls (Kim and Linda) assured us that the fragrance free products were lightweight and free of residue, a plus considering that the dreaded ‘ashy face’ is running rampant in this city.
All in all the event was an informative and fun outing that included great tips, great gifts…and some really great cookies. (Lemme tell you bout’ those oatmeal raisin…lol)
