In September while with my girlfriends at the Made In America festiva, I spotted Beyoncé and Jay-Z. It was the first time I had seen either one of them in person and for once in my life I got a little starstruck and took out my camera for a paparazzi style ambush. I got some pretty clear shots of Bey glaring looking at me while I snapped away at her talking on the phone. Jay didn’t seem to mind though and he just looked away like he didn’t notice the crazed, wide eyed blogger zoom lensing till her heart was content. After about three minutes security very politely asked me if I “had enough”, and I replied “yes” and walked away beaming…

First Ever Asos Dress Purchase

So after hearing  a lot of hype and seeing posts from other beautiful black bloggers like Mia of DiaryOfAFatFashionista and Brittany of PocketsAndBows, I decided to buy the Rocco print dress from Asos. If you’re unfamiliar, Asos is a BOMB online U.K. retailer that offers FREE standard shipping and has great prices. Additionally Asos carries clothes in up to a size 22 in their ‘Curve collection’ and is a favorite of Emily Bustamente, rapper Fabolous’ girlfriend, who posts pictures in their clothes nearly every day.

Help Ladies: How Do I Style My Sneakers?

Perplexed.

So remember a few posts back when I said I was buying sneakers? “This is going to be my next spring trend to try; I’m officially going to buy a pair of sneakers. Cross your fingers that I actually like them, sneakers tend to make me feel like a boy. :-/”

A few weeks ago I made good on that promise and actually bought a pair, specifically the Reebok Chi-Chazes. These bad boys are uber cute and I picked them up in this vibrant melon orange and blue color. Adorable, right?

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m seriously considering buying a pair of sneakers.

No, not gym sneakers which are usually the only form of female sneaks I find appropriate, but actual casual sneakers.

Lexi And Danielle Host TJ Maxx/Marshalls ‘A New Year, New You’ Event [Photos]

On Friday, my homie Lexi of Curls, Coils, And Kinks.com and my namesake Danielle of TheStyleAndBeautyDoctor.com hosted Atlanta’s “T.J. Maxx/Marshalls A New Year, A New You” event.

A bevy of beauty bloggers, natural hair aficionados and fashionistas turned out for the event at TJ Maxx Dunwoody where they were treated to light refreshments and challenges for prizes.

The ladies gave us great tips on items that TJ Maxx/Marshalls provides for much less than their retail value including hair products, designer shoes and even makeup and skincare.

In my opinion the highlight of the night was a fashion challenge where we had to find the most stylish outfit in the store that was ultimately judged by the TJ Maxx staff for a prize.

I picked out a super cute burgundy designer dress (I can’t remember the designer…but it was only 39.99!) and paired it with a black blazer ($49.99) and matching Jessica Simpson shoes ($49.99).

I didn’t win the challenge unfortunately but everyone was awarded a $25 gift card for participating.

This event was so much fun and I had a great time rediscovering all that TJ Maxx/Marshalls has to offer.

Quick Flicks: Before The 2011 Soul Train Music Awards [Photos]

A few weeks back I had a chance to attend and work the red carpet at the 2011 Soul Train Music awards.

I didn’t have anyone on hand to take pictures of me before the event so I snapped a couple of quick flicks in photobooth.

I wore a Bar III by Macy’s dress, Steve Madden platform sandals and ‘Atlanta’ lashes by Stephen Moleski.

The hair of course is still my virgin chinese in 18, 22 and 24.
